The Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) Lagos Medical Guild has disclosed some harsh treatments meted on its members by the Lagos State Government which resulted on embarking on a warning strike.
The guild disclosed in a press release made public on Tuesday that the state unceremoniously disengaged some of its members working in isolation centres and also were evicted from their hotels.
This action by the state according to the guild poses a great health danger to the doctors and their families after the state failed to screen the doctors of COVID-19 before they were disengaged.
They further stated that the state failed to utilise the two weeks negotiation period with the body which has led to the escalation of the strike.
The guild unequivocally affirms that the national body has its backing of the ongoing strike action in the state which is one of the tools in conveying their displeasure.
Therefore, the body is appealing to the state government to act swiftly in addressing the demands of its members so as to avoid further escalation of the strike in order not to jeopardise the health of Lagosians.
