Five private primary and secondary schools have been sealed off by the Lagos state government for flouting the order on school operations in the state. Recall that governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu directed all schools to be shut as the deadly Covid-19 spreads in the state.
According to the Director-General of the Office of Education Quality Assurance under the state Ministry of Education, Abiola Seriki-Ayeni, the schools were sealed after government officials caught them holding physical lessons for pupils right on their premises.
She said the step was imperative after her office observed that physical classes have been going on among some private schools across the state, adding that the state government will soon publicly announce the names of the schools and their penalties will also be announced to them as soon as possible.
According to a report, some of the affected schools are situated at Abule Taylor, U-Turn, Pleasure, and Oke-Odo, in Abule-Egba and Ojota.
